COURSE DESCRIPTION/ EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Some of our most difficult treatments in esthetics, severe wear cases and medically induced dental pathology can only be solved through careful planning and execution.  The old adage measure twice and cut once cannot be applied to treatments once we have finalized our restorations.   We can, however, through provisionalization in a sense, measure many times until we have the best final outcome.  Then through digital dentistry our lab technicians can accurately  capture all of the nuances we have created in our provisionals. This 2 hour presentation will focus on both direct and indirect provisionals, materials, planning, and implementation.  The speaker will show a numerous cases that will demonstrate the vast and unique ways that provisionalization truly is the cornerstone of excellent prosthodontic results.

1. Review of Provisional Materials.

2. Developing “Provisionals with a Purpose” and show techniques that can be used immediately.

3. Provisionals to solve esthetics, severe wear, and vertical dimension loss issues.

4. Demonstrate direct and indirect provisional including the digitally printed wax ups and provisionals.

5. Provisional Shell Technique.

Bradley S. Portenoy D.D.S., F.I.C.O.I., F.I.C.D., Pankey Scholar

Dr. Portenoy earned his D.D.S. with Thesis Honors in Behavioral Science from SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental medicine.  He is one of first Dentists in the United States to achieve Scholar status from the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education; Fellow International Congress of Oral Implantology; Fellow of the International College of Dentists, visiting Lead faculty, L.D. Pankey Institute for  Advanced Dental Education; Advisor of the L.D. Pankey Foundation;  and maintains a private practice in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Dr. Portenoy is a nationally recognized speaker as well as a frequent Lecturer throughout the New York area.
