Nassau County Dental Society's "Give Kids A Smile"

For over 20 years NCDS has hosted a Give Kids A Smile event.  We have one of the largest events in the entire country, seeing as many as 1500 children in one day at the Cradle of Aviation Museum.  The children get an dental examination, fluoride varnish application, oral hygiene instructions as well as nutritional counseling. Many of the children receive dental sealants as well. In addition they get to tour the Cradle of Aviation Museum, and the Firefighter's Museum. For many it is their first dental experience and it leaves a lasting, positive impression!
The children leave with more than a smile as they are given a backpack filled with goodies such as coloring books, tooth brushes, floss, oral hygiene pamphlets and even hats, scarfs and gloves!  Children with urgent dental needs are identified and arrangements are made to have them treated at local hospital clinics and private offices.  It takes over 300 volunteers consisting of dentists, staff, high school students, and others to get the job done!  If you'd like to volunteer for our next event please contact us at: office@nassaudental.org
