COURSE DESCRIPTION/ EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Cone beam CT technology is the radiology of the future.  It is extremely helpful in diagnosing advanced dental problems. It is nearly the standard of care to be using this technology at this time in dentistry. This course will compare the older forms of radiology (Full mouth series, panorex) and Cone beam CT scans. It will assist dentists in learning to read this new technology. Dentists will learn to diagnose fractures and other advanced lesions on these scans.

Upon completion of this presentation, attendees will have the skills necessary to:

  • Be aware of the history of CBCT imaging
  • Recognize a CBCT scan
  • Be able to read a CBCT scan
  • Be able to compare the difference between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional radiology
  • Be able to talk comfortably to a patient on the advantages of this imaging
  • Be able to see advanced dental cases on CBCT scan imaging
  • Be able to view what one cannot diagnose on 2-D imaging
