COURSE DESCRIPTION/ EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

This practical, action-oriented seminar is designed specifically for dental professionals and focuses on the compliance gaps most commonly found in small and mid-sized dental practices. Attendees will leave with concrete steps they can apply immediately across HIPAA operations, workplace policies, and website exposure — three areas where enforcement risk is active and growing.

  • Part I — HIPAA Operational Controls: governance, required documentation, workforce training, business associate agreements, access controls, encryption, records management, and breach response
  • Part II — Employment & Workplace Risk: harassment prevention training obligations, employment manual requirements, and common HR compliance gaps
  • Part III — Website & Public Exposure: ADA website accessibility liability, privacy policy requirements for patient-facing sites, and HIPAA pitfalls in online communications

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify HIPAA documentation, training, and vendor management requirements and recognize the common gaps that trigger OCR investigations
  • Understand New York's mandatory workplace harassment training obligations and the liability exposure from non-compliant employment policies
  • Evaluate their practice website for ADA accessibility and privacy policy compliance risks and understand remediation steps
  • Apply a practical compliance roadmap to their own practice with actionable steps they can implement right away.

He holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) designation and has experience in medical malpractice defense, HIPAA compliance, and advising healthcare organizations on privacy and regulatory matters. He has served as in-house counsel at a fintech company and a global SaaS provider, advising on data privacy, consumer protection, and compliance across heavily regulated industries.
